If you want to have a real experience of the subtle and sometimes not so subtle differences between green tea cultivated in different ways and places, you need to visit this place. The atmosphere and service exudes class according to Japanese traditional sensibility while stopping short of a stultifying tea ceremony. Why do people in East Asia care so much about tea? You have a good chance of experientially finding out here. The tea is served in combo sets as recommended on their English menu (you have more options if you can read Japanese) and it is prepared before you in your choice of tea pot. Before serving the tea, you will have the chance to view and sample the dried tea leaves themselves, which are surprisingly diverse. Can't say too much about the food as I only had the cheese cake, but it's way beyond what you find in a cafe when it comes to palatability and tastology. The place also sells a broad array of teas leaves and tea pots for those who like to collect. Probably not the place to go if there are no Japanese speakers among you. But if there are, they'd be doing you a great favor to go with you there.

Stumbled on this place goolging for a not-so-touristy cafe to sit amidst the summer heat. So happy to have found this tucked-away tea house (especially when the diners were all Japanese instead of tourists). Here on a Sunday and we were lucky to snatch the last remaining seats by the bar. We wanted to order their shaved ice desserts but didn't have the stomach since we'd just had lunch. My friend got the iced matcha while I went with the ume tea. I loved how the lady introduced us the leaves and asked us to take a bite - didn't know you could eat tea leaves straight from their dried state. It was a whole experience, and we enjoyed watching the lady (presumably the tea house owner) weighing the tea leaves and brewing. Will be back if I'm in the area again!

Tranquil atmosphere. you can have many different types of Sencha(not fermented green tea), Fermented tea, Matcha, decaffeinated tea as well! For me, it was very special experience as they suggest tasting the tea leaves first. Never had it before but the tea leaves were really aromatic and crispy! And they served more samplers!I had such a great time here
